Child care centers that contract with child care health consultants can expect quality consultation services by committed public health professionals. 

Following are examples of how consultants can help childcare centers attain optimal growth:
  1. Center evaluations: Perform on-site assessments of the environment and program operations.
  2. Policy development: Help develop general policy statements.
  3. Consultation: Conduct site visits or provide telephone consultation at the discretion of the child care provider.
  4. Health Education: Help obtain, understand and use information about child development, mental and physical health, safety, nutrition, and oral health.
  5. Community referrals: Link staff, families and children with community health resources.
  6. Progress tracking: Help identify areas of strength and improvement. Work closely with the center's director to help develop and track the center's improvement plan.
